Hi I’m Angela Meyer.
I’m a Wellington based writer.
In 2011 my husband, one year old son and I brought a yacht in Aruba and attempted to sail her back to New Zealand. It was quite an adventure.
Want to know what happened?
Check my book about it called Sea Fever, From First Date to First Mate
Before I went sailing I’d turned my hand to few things during my 37 years, actor, EFL teacher, yoghurt packer, showerer of elderly people, marketing and comms manager, mother, wife, Real Hot Bitch, pornographic cross stitcher, radio producer, wanna be truck driver, comedian, publicist, and writer.
Our family motto is “Hammer and Tongs. Do it, make it happen.”
Why didn’t quite get across the Pacific but we went at it hammer and tongs.
I’m now working on my first novel, The Honey Hunters due for publication in 2013 by Random House.
How truly blimin romantic.
It’s going to be an adventure, for sure. And that, I sometimes think, caught up in the inexorable wheels of a satisfying but a little humdrum life- is what we’re here for.
Look forward to following your adventures, and very entertaining blog. (And if we do end up looking after astra, having a few more modest ones of our own:))
Thanks Rob! We still have our fingers crossed that Astra sells but if she doesn’t it is great to think of her going to a good home.
Hi Hun,
I have 8 minutres to a bulletin that I havent written yet so I should probably address that.
Sailing the high seas eh? Lovely job. Do look after yourself and I’ll be thinking of you from time to time.
Love to the boys.

Lady Boss aka Bitch Mistress aka Mrs Blacksmith
I am reminded over another 80′s classic by the strangely melodic Christopher Cross
“It’s not far down to paradise
At least it’s not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me
It’s not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me
Sailing
Takes me away
To where I’ve always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free”
Safe passage my dear friend
Dear Blacksmiths,
Out sailing on Siward over the weekend and saw Astra out for a sail. Had a chat to Rob(?) and he told me of your adventures. Great to hear you are on the move. will be a dedicated follower of blog from now on.
Cheers
