Come aboard, we are expecting you!

Come aboard, we are expecting you!

At 0930hrs on March 21 2011 the Blacksmiths boarded Te Ikaroa, our new home. She was still pretty rough, nothing to sleep on or eat off, but at least the grime and dog hair was gone. We are now fully fledged  ‘live aboards’. I had visions of Ross sweeping me off my feet and carrying me across the gangplank, but with six bags and a toddler he kinda had his hands...

Fight the Filth

I am a weeper. I get it from my Dad. It is a well known fact that Meyer’s are genetically predisposed to crying. Mostly, I cry when I am happy, like when Dashkin was born, or at things that are really bitter sweet like saying goodbye to the Bitches, or leaving work. What I don’t do is cry when I am overwhelmed. Caribbean Dreams

We made it. 48 hours, 6 bags, 5 international flights, 4 body searches, 3 Bloody Mary’s, 2 dodgy taxi rides, and only one lost pillow, the Blacksmiths arrived in Aruba at 11 30pm on March 4 2011. For weeks I had nightmares about traveling in the confines of a aeroplane with a very active toddler. I packed books, colouring pens, lollipops, bottles of milk, sticker activity sets and, as...

Drag run – A love letter to the RHB’s.

Drag run – A love letter to the RHB’s.

Dear Bitches, In 1982 Olivia Newton John started a revolution when she sang ‘Let’s get physical. Come on, let me hear your body talk’. Six years ago we decided to see how many Wellingtonians wanted to make their bodies talk, and you, the bitches, responded. You didn’t just want to make your bodies talk; you wanted to make them holler. And I want to say thank you Thank you...
